Product Overview

The High Titanium Slag Smelting Furnace is an industrial-grade submerged arc furnace (SAF) specifically designed for the production of high-titanium slag. It is widely used in the comprehensive utilization of titanium resources and in the upstream sector of the titanium industry chain. Using ilmenite or titanium-rich feedstock as the primary charge, the furnace separates the iron phase from titanium-rich slag through an electric smelting reduction process, providing high-grade titanium-bearing raw materials for downstream production of titanium dioxide (TiO₂ pigment) or titanium sponge.

Working Principle

The basic smelting principle includes:

  • Ilmenite and coke (or other carbonaceous reductants) as the main furnace charge
  • Graphite electrodes inserted into the burden to form a submerged arc condition
  • Electrical energy converted into resistance heat and reaction heat
  • Reduction and separation of iron under high-temperature conditions
  • Production of TiO₂-rich high-titanium slag and metallic iron as a by-product

By controlling furnace temperature, burden composition, and electrical parameters, effective separation of titanium and iron is achieved. This process route is currently one of the most mature technologies for high-titanium slag production.
